![]() So if you're below 34 threat, they can stay in the staging area with no repercussions. ![]() Some enemies, like the Wild Bear, have no threat value. The Ambush keyword shows up in this quest, which is an ability on enemies in which they make encounter checks as soon as they enter play. The only thing of note is that characters cannot be healed during the third and final stage. Nothing like Foundations of Stone's separating the party. The biggest downside is that objective Arwen means we can't play ally Arwen, who kicks butt, but such is life. There are treachery and shadow cards the endanger exhausted characters, but Arwen has two Willpower and gives a hero a resource whenever she exhausts (kind of like Theodred, who was played in the last quest). The heroes have to escort Arwen to Rivendell to see Elrond. I get plenty of solo games to learn strategies there, but I'm new to planning for four cards per turn.Īlright, then here's my rundown on one of my favorite quests: The Road to Rivendell. Please let me know if I'm leading my group astray with this! Feedback is welcome! We don't get a lot of opportunities to play as a group, so they'd rather have a fighting chance out of the gates than learning the ins and outs through trial by fire. Certainly Burning Brand would be mentioned if I had access to it. ![]() I have Core, Return to Mirkwood, Heirs of Numenor, the full Dwarrowdelf cycle, and the full Ring-maker cycle, so the full card pool is not available and that's reflected in the options I explore. We just did a four person game of Foundations of Stone and Trouble in Tharbad, so I use that as a reference point in some of this. I've seen some frustration with The Road to Rivendell expressed in the past in other corners of the internet, so I thought someone else might be interested in my take on preparing for the quest with a full party. To ease them into some quests, I suggested that I write up an idea of what to look out for in advance so there's less surprise deaths (which I guess isn't for everyone or something). I have a four player group (including myself), but I have the most experience with the game by a large margin.
